We all hear about cleanses and detoxes, but how do we know when it’s the right time to do a detox or which program to follow?
A few weeks ago I went on a business trip to La Plata, Maryland to meet my CNS (Certified Nutritionist Specialist) supervisor. While sitting in with a few of her clients, she mentioned to one of them the Metagenics Clear Change 10-day Program. Naturally, I was intrigued and decided to research the product. She had mentioned that she had personally used the product, and felt better afterwards.
After reading about the Clear Change 10-Day Program, I decided I wanted to give it a try. You may ask why? Let me start by saying that detoxes should not be started without the supervision of a healthcare provider.
More than 4 billion pounds of chemical compounds are released into our environment every year. Yes, our bodies are naturally designed to process and eliminate the elements released, but combined with poor diet and nutrition, our bodies can easily become overburdened. The purpose of the Clear Change 10-Day program is metabolic detoxification.
Metagenics recommends considering a Metabolic Detox when experiencing the following:
The body has three steps to removing toxins from the body. In the first stage, the toxic molecule (which can either environmental or from metabolites of our body’s processes) is transformed into a different molecule, which can either be more or less toxic. In the second stage, the transformed molecule combines with another molecule to create a version of the molecule that the body is able to eliminate. And in the last step, elimination occurs, either through sweat, feces, or urine. Although this NATURALLY occurs in the body, the body may need help by providing certain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients. Additionally, our metabolic detoxification pathways may be affected by medications, genetics, and foods.
Today is Day 4/10 for my Metabolic Detox. I hope to share the rest of my detoxification journey with you, and some of the meals that I have while on the detox.
